Add More Adventure to your Life
Volume 1 Issue 2 September 1, 2003
Idea for
the week:
What if adventure were nothing more than seeing
something from a new perspective?
Make a list of 5 things that you
know there can be a
different perspective on and make a conscious
effort
to find them.
Feature Article:
Adventure is a state
of mind.
I have found adventure in flying,
in world travel, in
business, and even close at hand... Adventure
is a
state of mind - and spirit.
- Jacqueline Cochran
For a woman who grew up in poverty
and left school after third grade, Jackie Cochran
achieved great things. As the first woman pilot,
we read that she flew solo on her third day of
lessons and got her pilot’s license in 2½
weeks. What a model of the achievement possible
with a spirit of adventure and determination!
Can you imagine what it took for
her to fly solo after three lessons and get her
license in 2½ weeks?
I see that it took courage, determination
and strength of character for her to do it; also
a sense of adventure about what is possible in
life.
As the first woman pilot she is also breaking
free of social norms set by the time in which
she lived.
Are there areas of your life to which you can
apply the metaphor of flying solo after three
lessons and getting your pilot’s license
in 2½ weeks?
What will it take for you to break free of the
societal conditioning you have received to follow
your dreams or passion?
I offer a 30 minute complimentary coaching session
to get you started and see how coaching can further
your progress towards more adventure in your life.
