Living the Adventure
March 1, 2009

1. Welcome
It is with pleasure that I return again to writing and publishing your newsletter.

This is the 3rd month of the year and here in Montana, winter is still in full swing.
I remember when I lived in England that we were looking forward to Spring at this time whereas here we think about a couple more months before we get those gorgeous days...although we are often mistaken!

I invite you to pass this newsletter on to those you think may enjoy it – we grow by referral and I truly enjoy knowing that I have new readers.

2. Idea for the week
People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within - Elizabet Kubler-Ross

How much TV do you watch each week? How much do you worry about what the media is reporting? Are you gripped by fear or open to opportunity? Fear is the darkness and often the light from within can be brought forth by another.

Today I invite you to think about others to see what they have to offer and what light you can call forth. What can you learn from them? Are you set in your ways or are you open to change?

3. Living the Adventure - Being Real
How real is real?
Have you noticed how “being real” is often used in the context of sharing your challenges?
Is “being real” about telling people all the things we are struggling with or is it about telling people what we have to be grateful for in our lives?
The answer – it depends on who you are – and it can change from moment to moment.

If you are someone who has often “put a brave face on it”, “sucked it up” or otherwise pretended that all was well when it was not, it may mean that you begin to share the things you are struggling with. If you are someone who has frequently been full of woes - again pretended that nothing was going well when there are some good things, then it may mean that you begin sharing the things you are grateful for in your life.

What is true for most of us is that we have days when we feel great and things are going well and there are other days when we don’t feel great and things are going not so well…what about days when we don’t feel great, however everything is going well? Which part do you share? Being real would be to share all of it, briefly.

Learning to be real is an art, like many communicating skills.
Here are some guidelines about being real:
1. When someone asks how you are doing, check to see if they really want to hear and they have time – sharing how you are really doing only to have the other person be non-empathetic, indifferent or in a hurry is not really helpful to you or them.
2. When you share, be brief and factual about whatever is going on and your feelings – good, bad or indifferent.
3. If you have challenges ask if they’re OK listening to them.
4. If you are sharing challenges, ask for what you want – if you just want someone to listen without offering advice or sharing their story, ask for that; if you want someone to share what they know about others in your situation, ask for that…often people do not know how to respond.

Sometimes we believe that we shouldn’t be doing well if others aren’t. How would it be if you began to share what is real for you even if it is way outside the other persons’ experience?

Next time…being at peace vs. pretending.

Enjoy your Life…it’s the only one you’ve got!

4. 6 Advisors™
Do you know how your thoughts are affecting your life? Do you know which thoughts are sabotaging the very things you are wanting to change?

The 6 Advisors™ Assessment report can assist you in identifying those thoughts that support you in your quest for success in your life and those that sabotage your best efforts.

Dr. Robert Hartman, founder of the formal science of axiology created an assessment from a mathematical hierarchy of value which cuts across cultural, social and religious lines to accurately measure how we think.

If you would like to sample the 6 Advisors™ assessment for free go to www.6advisors.com/intro

After taking the assessment you will receive an email with a link to the report where you can listen to a virtual debrief for two of your 6 Advisors™. Be sure to take the time to read and listen thoroughly to the report – I believe you will find it fascinating.
After listening to your debrief for two of your 6 Advisors™ you will have the opportunity to request information on the other opportunities available to you for an investment. If you would like to receive a full personal debrief of your 6 Advisors™ assessment report I am offering that to my newsletter readers this month for $249.00 (a $50 savings over the regular investment). This offer will end March 31, 2009.
As with all the services I offer, this comes with a full money back guarantee if you do not receive value from it.

Where do your thoughts support you in your success? Where do they sabotage you? Take the free sample assessment to find out more about how your thoughts are influencing your life.

5. Synchronicity
The last few days I have been reviewing life in my first half century (yes, I am planning on a second!) and have realized how much I enjoyed life when I lived on boats from the perspective of how simple my life was.
Much of my life on weekends (parental time off) while growing up revolved around doing laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping. My Dad also found the time to take us girls to the park or swimming.
Since moving to land and having a family of my own, I have found myself on many occasions doing the same thing and definitely not spending as much time cross-country skiing, hiking and camping as I would like...which in turn has had me thinking about simplifying my life in order to do fewer chores on weekends and spend more time in the outdoors. This morning, in glancing through email I saw an article about simplifying life and decided to read it - I definitely plan on implementing some of those ideas.
What is showing up in your life to lead the way?

Wishing you joy and prosperity during 2009.
Warmly,
Barbara.
